A stroll through life – some advice on living a little easier and more casually

I have always wanted to live a simple life from a young age. I didn’t want to go to fancy restaurants and nightclubs; I just wanted to go out for dinner with friends and not worry about what I was eating or how my hair looked afterwards. The thing is, most people don’t live that lifestyle. Even though civilization has developed over the last few hundred years, we still live in an age of excess.

We are all trying to do more with less, but there are some things that you can do that won’t require you to break the bank (or your social status) – at least not right away. A stroll through life - some advice on living a little easier and more casually

Plan your day the night before

This one is super important: do not plan your day the night before. If, for some reason, you have to wake up early, plan your day the night before. Even if you don’t have to wake up early, try to have at least a couple of hours of shut-eye the night before so you are more alert and have more energy when you are up and about the next day. If you have a 9-5 job, try to plan your day, so you don’t have to rush anywhere, anywhere at all. Look for ways to reduce your normal day-to-day obligations, so you have more time to frontload your priorities. When you have to get up early, you can always make an extra effort to function better the next day by taking the time for yourself.

Ditch the coffee

Coffee is a stimulant, but it is a diuretic. That means it only stays in your system for a short time, and then you have to spend the day drinking water or tea to get rid of it. Diuresis is terrible news because it means your body is throwing away valuable water. While coffee certainly has its place in the morning (or evening) ritual, you should try to get your daily beverage in with milk or sugar-free hot chocolate instead.

You don’t have to drink coffee every day but try to ditch it if you don’t need it in the morning and save yourself some cash.

Start eating better

Eating well is super important, but it shouldn’t be the centre of your universe. If you are not eating well, you are probably more likely to feel unmotivated, lazy and unmotivated. The first step to a healthy diet is to decide what you want to eat.

Once you know what you want to eat, find a healthy substitute for the things you don’t want to eat and a healthy alternative for the things you do. For example, peanut butter is not a healthy alternative to peanut butter sandwiches, so swap out the peanut butter for almond butter, and you will be fine.

Have a bit of wine with dinner

If you are not drinking wine every day, don’t worry. You do not have to drink a lot of wine to reap the benefits of drinking a little wine with dinner. Try to have a glass of wine with dinner at least three times a week. If you are not drinking wine at home, try to find a community-based spot where you can drink with like-minded people.

If you tend to drink too much, you should probably avoid drinking at dinner because it will likely make you feel uncomfortable and tipsy. If you are unsure whether or not you should drink with dinner, it is probably a good idea to abstain from alcohol for 24 hours before your dinner date so you can be sure to feel relaxed and at ease without the alcohol.

Save money by buying used

If you are on a budget and are looking to save, buying a car in fantastic condition (not new) can be a great way to do it. Even if you have to take it back and get it repaired after a certain period, it is worth it to save on maintenance and keep driving it. If you are looking to purchase a car used, there are a few things you should consider. First, make sure it is in good condition. The engine needs to be running, the air conditioning needs to be working, the brakes need to work, and the tires need to be inflated.

If you are unsure about this, have your mechanic check it out. Look for signs of wear and tear rather than brand new. Also, make sure that the engine is not smoking. If it is, you need to get it changed. Next, take a good look at the body. Does it need to be replaced? When you have the body Values, Chips, and all, you can always sell it on Kijiji or the internet and use the money to buy a new car.

Look for deals where you can save

There are deals and savings everywhere. If you are looking for ways to save on a car or a vacation, look in the classifieds, on websites like Kijiji or Craigslist, or at your local car lot. Look for opportunities to save on everything from travel to furniture to clothes.

Living less formally is a great way to save money and get more done in less time. Sure, you won’t have access to the latest nightclubs or restaurants, but you can save a lot of money and have a lot more energy when you get your chores done. A stroll through life is a great place to start if you are looking for ways to save money on your daily expenses.
