Britax B-Agile Double Stroller Review

Britax B-Agile Double Stroller Review- As an expectant parent of twins I spent a lot of time looking for a compact double stroller that would help me transport the newborns around (and that would allow them to grow with it over time). There seem to be a wealth of choices out there when it comes to strollers. Twin strollers for newborns are no exception to the dizzying array of choices. You have to consider side by side strollers, tandem strollers and even jogging strollers for the more active parent.

Britax B-Agile Double Stroller

I agreed that we would each spend time researching the various pieces of equipment we would need for the babies. We got lists from family and friends for the items they considered essential. The stroller ended up on my list. We were lucky to receive some hand me down single strollers for those times in the future when the kids were apart, but it was up to me to find a good two seat or double stroller.

I poured over various combi double stroller reviews on the net and even talked to store clerks who took pity on a clueless parent to be. We considered an Icoo stroller or the Britax blink lightweight stroller since friends use one, but with twins on the way we ended up buying the Britax B-Agile Double Stroller.

Initial Thoughts

Like most new parents we wanted everything bought, built and ready to go once the babies arrived.

Our nursery looked like a showroom with all the gear we accumulated before the kids were born. This gave me the advantage of having some time to examine and familiarise myself our new dual stroller.

The B-Agile comes with the following features:

  • Lightweight aluminium frame – As you can guess this cuts down on the weight and makes the compact double stroller much easier to push around. However, if you load it up with two babies, supplies and miscellaneous items, you will get a nice workout pushing this stroller around.
  • Less than 30.5 inches wide – I am not sure if this is the smallest double stroller, but its width has been a boon for us when being out and about. Of course, you still have to be aware of little arms sticking out, so the width will vary.
  • Height adjustable handle – Both my partner and I love this feature since it helps make the cart more comfortable to use. However, since we are different heights the handle is always being adjusted, and like the eternal debate about raising and lowering the toilet seat, we argue about who left the handle in what position previously.
  • Good amount of storage – With a large storage spot underneath the seats and some packets on the back, the B-Agile compact double stroller possesses a good amount of space. I do admit to looking on with envy to those tandem strollers with the huge space underneath. (click here for more strollers like this)

In Action

Once the twins arrived on the scene, we got the compact double stroller up and running immediately. Now any new parent is going to be a bit skittish. I can say this with the experience to back it up. When we used the stroller for the first time we were thankful for the large canopies. The babies were kept covered up from even the slightest ray of sunlight. Even though I understand the need to protect the newborn’s skin, I jokingly asked my partner if she thought the babies were vampires and would burst into flame with the sun. Protip: do not make jokes like that with a new mother. The B-Agile has an all-wheel suspension that keeps everything smooth as you travel. As long as you are not bouncing over rubble, the stroller rides nicely. Of course, my kids would probably love being bounced around all over the place.

The harness system on the stroller does a great job securing the babies very well and I never felt they were unsafe. Beyond the normal fussiness you experience with babies, they always seemed comfortable in the stroller. They slept comfortably when they needed and the reclining seats were much appreciated when giving the kids a comfortable sleeping position.

As for safety features, the front wheels are lockable on this compact double stroller and the parking brake will freeze the rear wheels in place. We made sure to never park on a slope or on the side of a hill, but when locked into place the wheels hold the stroller still.

Britax B-Agile Double Stroller  with car seats

Also, the B-Agile integrates with Britax’s Chaperone or B-Safe car seats. We were given the Chaperone’s as shower gifts so we were appreciative of the compatibility. This makes things much easier when transporting the babies from the car to the stroller. However, the one issue we encountered was that when using the car seat, the shades were troublesome to get into place. It was not a deal breaker, but if you can try before you buy, try it out and see if it is a problem for you.

Final Thoughts

Finding a stroller can be a daunting experience. You will never lack for choices. I guess the only limiting factor is how much you want to spend. There may be very expensive strollers out there that offer more bells and whistles but we have been very happy with the B-Agile. As the babies grow, we know we will get a great amount of use out of it. The stroller has held up well over the last few months and there have been no technical issues. We have been luck and have not had any issues squeezing through doors or tight spaces. The stroller is comfortable to use and makes for a great piece of baby gear.

My partner like getting out with the kids and is now considering looking for a tandem jogging stroller to keep fit while walking with the kids. Looks like it’s off to do more research and try to track down a combi twin sports stroller.
So if I am going to bottom line it, the Britax B-Agile Double Stroller is a good quality, nicely priced compact double stroller and makes for a good choice.
